Goals and Expectations

Goals


*To provide a flexible, integrated, child-centered curriculum enabling each child to achieve his individual potential and develop an enthusiasm for learning.  The curriculum will include, but not limited to, experiences which:
a. foster active learning
b. encourage effective communication
c. help to develop an appreciation for good literature and a lifelong interest in reading
d. stimulate critical and creative thinking
e. cultivate careful observation
f. develop logical problem solving ability
g. faciliate working cooperatively in large and small groups.

*To cultivate within each child a desire to respect individual and cultural differences of all people, a need to help others, and a feeling of responsibility for being an active and informed citizen.

*To enrich the quality of life for every child through participation in art, music, and physical education.

*To foster pride in effort and accomplishment, a feeling of self-worth, and an enthusiasm for learning through positive teaching while developing positive attitudes, leadership qualities, and a sense of accountability in students.

*To provide students the opportunity to acquire and maintain academic and problem solving skills as well as the ability to locate and utilize information through the use of computer technology and appropriate software.

*To encourage parental and community involvement in the educational process through reciprocal communication.

*To continue to provide opportunities for the staff to develop skills in technology and to encourage professional growth through educational opportunities, exchange of ideas and exchanges of teaching methods which will enhance classroom instruction and student performance.
